Andrew founded Thomson Hayton Winkley Estate Agents with his two Co- Directors in 2012 and has been a driving force behind our agency’s growth and success. He has lived locally all his life and has worked in the estate agency industry for more than 22 years. In 2004 Andrew was elected as a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. His approach to work is one of preparation and planning accompanied by being thoughtful, sensible and polite. Clare’s one of our original team and started with us back in 2012 She’s worked in the industry since 2008 and has lived locally for more than 17 years with her husband, and daughter Bethany. Completing the Hoban family are two dogs, a Collie called Bonnie, Ruby the Jack Russell and Tink the cat, who is Clare’s favourite (but don’t tell the dogs). Clare’s a very popular member of our team with a hardworking and organised attitude complementing a generous, loyal and fun-loving nature. She has passed her exams to gain both the NAEA and ARLA qualifications which are a sign of industry excellence. Energetic Angela’s career has come full circle. She started in Estate Agency aged 16, then worked for a local Building Society for several years, before returning to the Estate Agency industry in 2013 and joining us in March 2016. Angela is determined and professional with a personable, enthusiastic attitude to helping her clients. She said: “I’m proud to be part of the award-winning team here at Thomson Hayton Winkley. Graham’s lived in the local area all his life and has worked in the estate agency industry for more than 35 years. He is married, has two teenage daughters, Georgia and Cherry and a goldfish aptly named Supafish. Despite being in the property business since 1982 Graham’s enthusiasm still burns brightly and nothing gives him a bigger buzz than successfully listing a home and ensuring the client’s selling experience is a happy one. Having worked in the past for corporate agencies Graham feels the difference with the Thomson Hayton Winkley approach is the team are all focussed on the client. Or as he puts it: “Corporates think of how much they can get out of a client while Thomson Hayton Winkley ask what more can they do for a client. The culture here revolves around doing all we can to help our clients.” His approach to his work is one of determination, enthusiasm, honesty and being professional while maintaining a sense of humour. Not a lot of people know that….: Graham is the DJ for the UK Neil Diamond Fan Club and his favourite song is Holly Holy. Likes: Running and cycling. And music – Anything from Abba to Frank Zappa, apart from rap and heavy metal. Loves: Barnsley FC, Graham’s first match was back in 1967. He’s also a season ticket holder at Morecambe Football Club having watched the Shrimps for the first time in 1968. Chris has been an estate agent for the past 15 years and joined us in 2014. She brings, to her role, a wealth of estate agency experience, considerable business acumen, (she helped run a successful family firm) and in-depth knowledge of the local area. Chris has lived locally for 27 years and is married with two grown up children and three very energetic grandchildren. When it comes to having pets -for someone who grew up on a farm Chris has only ever got as far as two gold fish and a family of stick insects– although she did have five horses in her younger years. Chris spoke about her role at Thomson Hayton Winkley. Born and bred in Kendal, Joanne has been with us since 2015 and has more than 15 years’ experience as an estate agent. She is a hardworking mother and wife, who is constantly being badgered by her kids to get a pet dog. She’s approachable, dedicated, organised and very friendly and likes nothing better than when a property she has been working on completes and she’s overseen the whole process from start to successful finish. Joanne was delighted when Thomson Hayton Winkley won the Best Agent in the North East and North West in October 2017. She said: “The team here all want to do the best for our clients, we are open and honest, and I think we provide the best service around.” If Joanne hadn’t been an estate agent delivering successful results for her clients she may well have been delivering something very special instead – her dream job (other than being an award-winning agent) would be working as a Midwife. Not a lot of people know that….: Joanne is not a fan of theme parks but plucked up the courage, urged on by her children, to take a ride on one of the World’s Top 10 rollercoaster rides while on holiday in Spain. Gemma’s been with us since we opened our doors in 2012. She had a career break when she welcomed her son to the World in. Before joining Thomson Hayton Winkley Gemma worked as an aftersales manager for a motorhome company. She has a background in many different aspects of customer service and brings that wealth of experience to looking after her clients at Thomson Hayton Winkley. Gemma’s Windermere born and bred, and has worked locally all her life. She’s hard working, approachable and has one of the best skills an estate agent can have – she’s a great listener. Gemma explained why she loves her job. “Helping people achieve their big move, and in some cases holding someone’s hand through the buying process (not literally) is a real privilege. I listen to people concerns and goals, and advise them accordingly. “My role isn’t without its challenges and keeping sales on track and overcoming obstacles during the sales process are just two of them. “At Thomson Hayton Winkley, we have always worked incredibly hard to be at the top of our game with regards to customer service and I believe this is what makes us stand out. We aim to treat everybody the same whether it be a £100,000 or £1,000,000 property we’re selling.” The proudest moment of Gemma’s estate agency career was helping an elderly lady make her final move into an apartment. The lady’s family lived far away but Gemma was committed to supporting her and ensuring she settled in and was happy. Gemma’s Top Property Tip: Try and de-personalise your property so a prospective buyer can imagine living there themselves and consider freshen things up with flowers for viewings and declutter as much as possible.
Local lass Rebecca joined us in early 2016 and has been an estate agent for the past five years. She’s a very popular member of the office with a happy, hardworking and positive personality. She’s lived locally all her life and gives 100 per cent effort to ensuring her clients get the results they are after. Rebecca said: “I always try my best to give great customer service and developing relationships with my clients. “I understand that selling or buying a home can be stressful and, like all of the team here, I work hard to deliver the best possible customer service to each client in a friendly but professional way that makes their experience a positive one and makes them want to come back and use us. “One of my proudest moments was completing a sale on a property which had been on the market for nearly 5 years and getting the transaction through to a successful finish after 5 months. The day it exchanged I nearly cried.” Not a lot of people know that….: Rebecca has a Business Studies Degree from Manchester Met University. Likes: Settling down and watching boxsets especially Peaky Blinders, the Blacklist and any crime related TV series. Loves: Having good times with her boyfriend, family and friends. Jennie started with us in August 2017 and has a vast array of experience in most aspects of the property industry. Over the past 40 years that she has lived locally she has worked alongside her husband buying, selling and developing properties, so she knows the sales process inside out and can empathise with buyers and sellers. Jennie has two sons and two grandsons, with another grandchild on the way. She also has Alfie, an 8-year-old black Working Cocker Spaniel. She has already show herself to be a conscientious, professional, organised and enthusiastic member of the Thomson Hayton Winkley team. Jennie said: “I’m really lucky that I work with lovely clients and experienced colleagues on a daily basis. “We all share a professional attitude and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure our clients get the best service and care possible.” Not a lot of people know that….: Jennie used to teach children Morris Dancing. Emma’s one of the newest members of our award-winning team but has worked in the estate agency industry for 12 years. She has two young daughters and has lived locally for more than 28 years. Our clients are already benefitting from Emma’s dedicated, determined and professional attitude to her work. Whether it’s selling a million-pound detached house or a one bed studio flat, Emma can always be relied upon to do her absolute best for the client. Kate’s been a popular member of our team since 2015. Having lived in the area for 34 years and raised a family here she has a wealth of local knowledge. She’s flexible, trustworthy and very organised, which are great attributes to have in our busy lettings office. Kate takes real pride in her work and describes her proudest moment as when she helped more than 40 local families who had to move out of their homes during the 2015 floods. With a confident, practical and knowledgeable approach to her work Kate makes sure that our landlords and tenants are both well looked after. Kate said: “I genuinely think that Thomson Hayton Winkley is a marvellous company to work for and I’m lucky to have a brilliant team of people who I work with. We’re all committed to the same thing and that’s giving our clients the best possible service.” Not a lot of people know that….: Kate has a degree in Communication, Art Studies, Media and Performance. Likes: The idea of being a super spy if she hadn’t become a letting agent. Loves: The variety of work that being a letting agent brings and away from the office spending time with her family. Lois has been part of our team since 2015 and lived in the local area for 21 years. Lois is organised, flexible and dedicated to looking after landlords and tenants. Her approachable and personable manner helps to build the long-term relationships required for successful property lets. She said: “I love being part of the THW team. We’re all professional and honest and total transparency runs throughout our agency. “I love my job as I’m constantly learning and always meeting new people. The highlight of my role is when I hand over the keys to an excited new tenant knowing that we helped play a big part in making that happen.” Not a lot of people know that….: Lois has always had a secret ambition to become a criminal psychologist. Diane has been part of our team since early 2017. She has lived locally for the last 25 years and has two children who keep her very busy outside of work. She’s conscientious, flexible and very organised which are great attributes to have as a lettings negotiator. Ashlea is one of our team’s newer members having joined us in August 2017. She’s lived locally for more than six and a half years with her husband, two children and the family dog Bonnie, who is a beautiful mix of Labrador and Collie. Ashlea’s already showing a very committed, passionate and enthusiastic approach to her work. Gerry has been with us since January 2013 having moved to the local area in 2009. Gerry’s popular with her colleagues and our clients and her friendly manner makes her the perfect person to accompany house viewers looking for their dream home. She’s a mum of two who has two grandchildren. Gerry said: “I enjoy my role as not only do I work with a lovely group of colleagues I also get to meet so many different people. “Our team all take a lot of pride in being friendly and focussed on our clients and I think that shows in the testimonials we receive and led us to being voted best estate agent in the North East and North West of England.” Not a lot of people know that….: While living in South Africa she attended a dinner party when none other than Nelson Mandela turned up. Claire has worked with us since 2015. She’s originally from Stranraer in Scotland but moved to Kendal 30 years ago. She has 3 children (2 teenage boys & a 10 year old Girl) and 2 English Bulldogs called George Michael & Vivienne Westwood. Claire is a friendly, chatty, honest and enthusiastic member of the team and brings all those qualities to her work She said: “I’d like to think I’m very customer service orientated, and I enjoy my work. “I think we have a brilliant team here at Thomson Hayton Winkley. Well, she doesn’t really as she’s scared of heights but during a family holiday to Mexico her seven-year-old daughter decided to, marching past anxious American ladies in a queue before confidently diving off. Former primary schoolteacher Corrin, has been with us since 2015. Originally from Lancashire, Corrin moved to the local 6 years ago. She has swapped the classroom for the estate agency office, but still brings her reliable, kind, organised and thoughtful manner to her busy role of showing people around homes for sale or let with us. Corrin’s a real animal lover and practically has her own mini-zoo which includes 3 cats, 6 hens, 3 bantams, 2 cockerels and 3 Cayuga ducks. Corrin said: “My job is enjoyable because I’m meeting new people and seeing beautiful homes daily. “Thomson Hayton Winkley has a real professional approach to everything it does. Marie’s a local lass having lived in the area we serve all her life. She joined us two years ago and helps our clients present their homes in the very best possible way. With her eye for interiors and photography skills Marie always makes sure our clients homes stand out in the market place. Marie’s hard working, kind, loyal and small (in her own words). Along with his colleague Rob Feakin Lee runs our inhouse maintenance and repair team. He’s been with us for since 2015 and has lived in the local area for 45 years. He has two sons, a daughter and a collection of animals including a 2 Cats, 2 Rabbits, a Snake, Gecko and a Hamster. He’s a calm, reliable and conscientious member of the team and is known for his cheerful and easy-going personality. Lee said: “We are always on the go which means the time flies and we get to meet lots of new people. The agency is growing, and I’m not surprised because we look after our clients well. It’s a great company to work for as we are all made to feel part of the team.” Not a lot of people know that….: Lee used to be a bit of an expert break dancer in his youth. Robert is a bit of a rarity in the estate agency world as he’s the Co-manager of our in-house Thomson Hayton Winkley maintenance team. In our experience not many agents across the country have a dedicated team like Robert’s meaning we rarely need to rely on outside contractors. He has been with us since early 2015 and is our go to guy when it comes to repairs, maintenance and solving problems in general. He’s super-efficient, totally reliable and meticulous in his work. Rob said: “Being part of the dedicated maintenance service we offer clients means no two days are similar. We’re always kept busy and faced with new challenges and a range of issues to resolve. “But it’s a very rewarding job as I feel we are improving the lives of people, especially in the case of older people who cannot do the required work themselves. I know we make a difference and working with such an innovative, professional and dedicated team is brilliant.” Not a lot of people know that….: Rob has practised Go Ju Ryu Karate-do for 17 and is a Black belt.
